Adidas Adios Pro 2

One of the super shoes I wasn't able to get when we conducted the Super Shoe Study

was the Adidas Adios Pro line. The first version was sold out at the time, and the Pro 2 didn't get released until after we had begun the study. For this case study comparison I tested my running economy in the Adidas Adios Pro 2 as well as the Nike super shoes.

Testing Methods

I tested the Nike Vaporfly Next % 2, Nike Alphafly, and Adidas Adios Pro 2, along with my typical control shoe (Asics Hyper Speed) for two reps each on two separate days at 6:15/mile pace. Check out this link to see what running economy is, how it is measured, and how it impacts performance.

The Nike Alphafly improved my running economy (3%) substantially more than the Adidas Adios Pros 2 (1%).

Take Home Message

It looks like for me at least, ZoomX and the Nike super shoes perform much better than Lightstrike Pro and the Adidas Adios Pro 2. This is just 1 objective data point at 1 speed. I know there are a lot of elites running fast in the Adios Pro 2. Maybe they would be running faster in the Nike Shoes, maybe not? I really wish we could have acquired the Adios Pro 1 or 2 for our larger super shoe comparison study to see how it would have stacked up across the board. My university research lab has a larger project going on currently where we will be able to compare them in more subjects.
